We are a student-led team from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign dedicated to pushing the boundaries of tunneling technology.
Our team brings together passionate engineering and business students to design, build, and test innovative tunnel boring machines for the Spring 2026 Not-a-Boring Competition.
Our goal is to design and build a fully electric, autonomous tunnel boring machine (TBM) to compete at the Not-a-Boring Competition. We want to target a TBM weighing approximately X lbs and measuring X feet long, optimized for speed, precision, and innovation.
Our mission is to empower future engineers and innovators by developing groundbreaking and impactful tunneling solutions, while providing exceptional hands-on learning experiences.
Our vision is to design and build advanced TBMs that push the boundaries of speed, precision and sustainability. We want to provide students with immersive, real-world engineering and business experiences, bridging academic knowledge with practical application. Lastly, we want to promote STEM education and outreach by sharing our work with the broader community and inspiring future generations to pursue innovation in engineering.
